Welcome to the Missouri Foxtrotter Riding Academy Website!
Whether you are a Foxtrotter owner or thinking of becoming a
Foxtrotter owner, we have a
GREAT program for you!

Way overdue and very much needed, The Missouri Foxtrotter Riding
Academy is a “
first of its kind”.

My name is Cyndi Plasch.  I am a Missouri Foxtrotter Trainer/
Riding Coach and the founder of The Missouri Foxtrotter Riding
Academy.  Please check out all the information on this site to become
better informed of what the Missouri Foxtrotter Riding Academy has
to offer.

My experience has been riding and training Missouri Foxtrotters for
Competitive Trail Riding and Pleasure Trail Riding for the past 15
years.  Prior to that I was a “Quarter Horse” person.  I got involved
with this breed because my husband had a degenerative spine disease
and could not ride a “non-gaited” horse.  Someone suggested that we
look into the “Missouri Foxtrotter”.  We had never heard of a
Foxtrotter before, but decided we needed to “check them out”.   After
purchasing my husband’s first horse, a Missouri Foxtrotter, we sold
all of our other horses and have had nothing but Missouri Foxtrotters
ever since.

I moved to the Madison, Wisconsin area from Illinois in 2002.  I have
spent the last 6 years buying & raising young Missouri Foxtrotters
then training and selling them.  Most of my clients are 40 + years old
and have NO experience in riding gaited horses.  My training program
includes training the horse AND the rider.

I have found that many people who are seeking out and buying gaited
horses have never even rode a gaited horse before. They get their
Missouri Foxtrotter home and are not sure what to expect, how to
ride it, or what the gaits are suppose to feel like, look like or sound
like.  They are so excited about their gaited horse that they seek out
help.  Keep in mind that this wonderful breed IS naturally gaited, but
the rider often interferes with their natural ability to gait properly.

You may find yourself asking. Who do I go to?  Where do I go?  Where
do I find a Missouri Foxtrotter Trainer who not only knows how to
train the horse BUT the rider?  Some may go to trainers who they
know of and are familiar with, but they are not experienced Missouri
Foxtrotter trainers.  So they tell you to use this bit and change this or
that, but it doesn't necessarily work with the Missouri Foxtrotter.
They try and set their head wrong and ride them too loose of rein or
too collected and get them all nervous, and just makes things worse!
Then you feel you are going backwards instead of forward and you
are STILL not sure what to do to get your horse gaiting correctly or
how to have a happy working relationship with your Foxtrotter.

Or maybe you have tried the “Gaited Clinics” where you have spent a
lot of money and not gotten much results!  Most gaited clinics are 2
days with too many horses (of numerous different gaited breeds all
thrown together), all being rode at the same time.  How much time is
the Clinician spending one on one with each rider and horse and how
much time are they spending talking to the auditors and answering
their questions?   Then after investing 2 days of your time and
money, you go home and how much really changes?  Did you feel you
got your money’s worth?  Did you have a clearer understanding of
how to relax your horse and get him/her to gait better?  Did you learn
what each gait was and how to ask for it and keep them in it?  Did you
have the opportunity to get on a Missouri Foxtrotter that was set in
its gaits so you could feel and hear each gait and get familiar with it so
you know what to work toward on your own horse?

HELP is here at last!  The Missouri Foxtrotter Riding Academy is
designed to give Foxtrotter owners a place to go and get “one on one”
help with 3 days of intense training WITH their horse. You will have
the opportunity to ride a variety of wonderful, well trained, school
horses that are set in their gaits and love to teach what Missouri
Foxtrotters have to offer.  They will give you the basic knowledge and
experience to begin.  The rest of the 3 days are spent with you on
your horse working on a step-by-step, down to earth approach, to
help teach you how to achieve your gaiting and partnership goals with
your Missouri Foxtrotter.   Then we will practice, practice, and
practice (including trail riding).  As they say, “Practice Makes Perfect”.

This is an opportunity you will not want to miss.  We have a
BEAUTIFUL facility, where you will be welcomed and treated
warmly.  Breakfast and Lunches are provided all 3 days - by me!  (I
make awesome home made desserts!).  We have gorgeous trails that
we will be riding each day. We have camping available on our grounds,
a  Lodge and a Farm House that we rent out, or a local hotel if you
prefer.  You can rent a paddock or a stall (if available) for your horse.
All information you will need is on this website,  please read each
section thoroughly.

NOTE:  This is NOT a 3-Day-Program to “fix” Foxtrotters who do
nothing but hard pace.  If your Foxtrotter has been pacing for a long
time, they need to go to a professional trainer who enjoys working
with that specific problem and who is willing to take the time to fix it.
This 3 Day Program is also NOT to fix a horse’s “behavioral” pro-
blems.  If your horse has major issues (example: very disrespectful,
very bad ground manners, bucks, kicks, bites or rears), it needs to
have professional training to fix those issues.  I do not want to take
away from the paying clients attending by dealing with the issues
stated above.

If your horse is found to a hard pacer as described above, or is
uncontrollable and ill behaved you will be asked to ride a school horse
during the entire 3-Day-Program.  There will be NO refunds granted
in either one of these situations.  This will be highly enforced for the
protection of all other participants involved.

If you have ANY question about this, please email me directly:
Horsetrainer219@yahoo.com or call me at (608) 225-9058 and we
can discuss the situation.  Thank you for understanding.

Hope to talk to you or meet you soon!
